Historic Tavern Crawl
Each September, Corydon Capitol State Historic Site hosts a Historic Tavern Crawl through downtown Corydon. Guests are guided through a walking tour of the locations of historic taverns from Corydon’s past. Along the way, you’ll learn the fascinating history of taverns, colorful local stories, and imbibe historic drinks. Although only one tavern from the past remains standing, your guides will make the other locations come alive with lively commentary and even a drinking song or two! 21+ only.
Corydon, as the state capitol from 1816-1825, had dozens of taverns to cater to travelers, locals, and politicians. The writers of Indiana’s Constitution stayed at and met at various local taverns during the Constitution Convention of 1816 and continued to stay at taverns during legislative sessions.
